On behalf of the Hampden-Wilbraham Regional School Committee, we are pleased to announce the appointment of M. Martin O’Shea as our new Superintendent of Schools.

Mr. O’Shea is currently serving as the Principal of Minnechaug Regional High School, capping a 20 year career in education. His career began as a social studies teacher at Cathedral High School in Springfield and then moved to Longmeadow High School where he continued teaching, moved to Department Chair and Curriculum Coordinator. He served as Assistant Principal of Longmeadow High School for four years before coming to our District four years ago to serve as principal of our high school.

During his time in our District Mr. O’Shea has demonstrated his leadership skills on numerous occasions that have been of benefit to the students and the District. He has established a strong working relationship with the School Committee, as well as a strong and trusted relationship with the citizens and elected officials in our two towns. He brings his energy, passion and ideas for the future to the position of Superintendent.

Mr. O’Shea holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Stonehill College and a Master’s Degree from Westfield State College. He has completed the Leadership Licensure Program for School Superintendents. Mr. O’Shea has been accepted into the doctoral program at Northeastern University in Boston. He is anxious to embark on this challenge and utilize skills from this program to benefit our District.

Having completed a rigorous search process, multiple interviews, site visits, School Committee evaluation and assessment, we are confident that our choice of Mr. O’Shea will be one that will continue to move our District forward into the future and the continuing provision of quality public education. M. Martin O’Shea will be a bright, vibrant, strong and trusted presence as the leader of our school district. We congratulate Mr. O’Shea and look forward to working with him in his new role.
